The bi0-mechanic crawled out from under the car.
Is it bad?
Well son, your car's got cancer.
Cancer?
Yep. They'res a large tumor right above your front wheels and another malignant growth near the engine, and if I had to guess, they're probably more. These models are supposed to have a realll tight biogrowth suppression rythm. About the only thing I can think of that would mess with it would be AAIDS.
AAIDS?
Sure, automotive AIDS. Your car hasn't been sharing fluids with anything from the meatyard, has it? Giving another car a jump, perhaps? Swapping parts.....
you're not a carophile are ya boy?
The term boy took on a suspicious tone.
No sir. Never sir. Those freaks make me sick.
Well, somehow your car got tha AIDS. I can order some anti-biotics but it's pretty far along and we can't just scrap it. It's infected.
He casually walked over to the trash can and threw away the gloves.
Damn it. This is what biomechanical cars get us. Anti-biotics and coolant refills. Automotive AIDS. PETC, People for the ethical treatment of cars. Mechanics screw you even harder now, and everything involved in cars is a nightmare of flesh and machinery. Still, fuel efficency is great, because cars don't use fuel anymore. They still have mechanical parts for things like radio and airconditioning, but in the battle between flesh and metal, flesh is winning. It's all technology though. Anything even resembling "nature" passed long before my time. Despite this change, the future is not all that different. Things have continued on the same steady path, with technological revolutions changing what we can do, but in practice having little impact on what people choose to do.
